I personally feel like chess.com has weaker opposition: perhaps because it's more mainstream, it's the first result for "online chess". Around 50% of Lichess userbase is rated under 1500, and it's not much fun when you can't get past a score of 10. You don't compare the number, you compare the percentile in the pool. If you are top 10% on lichess, you will probably be top 10% on chess.com. Slightly lower on lichess though, at least in blitz. The pool of blitz players on lichess is significantly stronger. Most casual players google "chess" and end up on chess dot com which makes the pool ...
